Ralph Russell Park ribbon-cutting ceremony
Join Marion County Parks and Recreation for a ribbon-cutting ceremony recognizing Ralph Russell Park improvements, Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m.
The $485,702 in renovations were funded by the Parks and Recreation Fees Fund; money generated by things like facility user fees, rentals fees and park pass sales.
“Updating and maintaining community parks provides recreational opportunities and experiences for residents of all ages,” said Kelsey Mears, assistant director with Parks and Recreation. “Maintained parks help promote health and wellness by offering space for youth and adult sports leagues to thrive.”
Renovations included everything from beautification to ADA compliance.
Some of the updates are as follows:
• Automated lighting for the fields.
• New softball field fencing.
• A freshly paved parking lot including ADA updates.
• Sidewalks through the park.
• A new flag pole.
• Concession stand upgrades.
• Replaced batting cage netting.
• A new water fountain.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony concludes with several condensed baseball games.
